Job summary

UnitedHealthcare seeks a Principal AI Solution Architect - Finance to lead discovery and design of AI-driven financial solutions. The role is remote, allowing work from anywhere in the U.S., with in-person requirements for Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. offices four days a week.

You will partner with business experts, engineers, and data scientists to deliver production-ready components, ensure responsible AI practices, and guide teams across the full solution lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in tech, analytics, product dev, solution architecture, data science, automation, or consulting.
• Experience designing or delivering AI, generative AI, automation, analytics, or software-enabled solutions.
• Experience translating complex business needs into product requirements, technical designs, or implemented solutions.
• Experience leading cross-functional solution delivery involving business and technical stakeholders.
• Experience communicating technical concepts, design decisions, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and design for high-value opportunities across actuarial, finance, analytics, and ops.
• Translate business needs into product requirements, architectures, plans, and outcomes.
• Design and contribute to generative AI and agentic solutions, including prompts and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Partner with experts across teams to move solutions from concept to implementation.
• Evaluate tech choices and tradeoffs across value, speed, cost, reliability, usability, security, and scalability.
• Develop prototypes and production components using enterprise-grade code, low-code, and AI platforms.
• Establish reusable patterns, playbooks, and reference architectures.
• Guide partners and teams while hands-on delivering solutions.
• Support responsible AI with evaluation, docs, controls, and monitoring.
• Coach leaders and builders in applied AI product development and design.
