Job summary

KLA Industries seeks an experienced field technician to test and commission protective relays and substation equipment across transmission and distribution networks. You will read schematics, troubleshoot, and collect data while coordinating with customers and project leads.

The role requires 3–5+ years in utility relay testing, hands-on relay test sets, and a degree in EE or equivalent. Willingness to travel regionally and occasional out-of-state work is essential.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years in utility or substation relay testing and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with relay test sets and relay software (SEL, GE or similar).
• A bachelor's degree in EE or a related field, or equivalent experience. NETA certification is not required.
• Comfort with flexible hours, weekends and frequent driving.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Test and commission protective relays, control schemes and substation equipment on transmission and distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot, run start-ups and collect test data on HV equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and DC elementaries.
• Work independently on site, and report findings to customers and project leads.
