Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks a field relay technician to test and commission protective relays, control schemes, and substation equipment on transmission and distribution systems.

You will troubleshoot, run start-ups, and collect test data on HV equipment, reading schematics and diagrams as needed. The role requires 3–5+ years of relay testing experience, hands-on use of SEL/GE software, a related degree, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years in utility or substation relay testing and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with relay test sets and relay software (SEL, GE or similar).
• A bachelor's degree in EE or a related field, or equivalent experience. NETA certification is not required.
• Comfort with flexible hours, weekends and frequent driving.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Test and commission protective relays, control schemes and substation equipment on transmission and distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot, run start-ups and collect test data on HV equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and DC elementaries.
• Work independently on site, and report findings to customers and project leads.
