Job summary

Sora Resource Group is seeking an experienced Relay Test Technician for remote-based work with regional travel across the Midwest. You will test and commission protective relays and substation equipment, troubleshoot on-site issues, and collect data for project leaders.

The role requires 3-5+ years in utility relay testing, hands-on relay test set experience, and a EE-related degree. Flexible hours and daily regional travel are expected.

Qualifications

3-5+ years in utility or substation relay testing and commissioning.
Hands-on experience with relay test sets and relay software (SEL, GE or similar).
A bachelor's degree in EE or a related field, or equivalent experience. NETA certification is not required.
Comfort with flexible hours, weekends and frequent driving.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Test and commission protective relays, control schemes and substation equipment on transmission and distribution systems.
Troubleshoot, run start-ups and collect test data on HV equipment.
Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and DC elementaries.
Work independently on site, and report findings to customers and project leads.
