Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in the United States is seeking an experienced electrical engineering professional to lead automation and control projects within the Electric Power Division.

You will deliver retrofit and new generator control solutions from concept through commissioning, collaborating with dealers, factories, and cross-functional teams. The role requires knowledge of PLC-based systems, HMIs, and DCS, plus the ability to read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with automation and controls including PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Willingness to travel 35-50% for project work.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses promptly.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
