Job summary

ZealHire Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to oversee PostgreSQL environments across cloud and on-premises. You will ensure reliability, security, and integrity of production and non-production databases, and guide standards and recovery readiness.

The role involves optimizing performance, managing backups, and collaborating with architecture, security, and engineering teams. Remote work is available, with occasional travel for meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field plus 5+ years of related experience.
• Hands-on PostgreSQL administration incl. install/patch.
• PostgreSQL performance tuning and index strategy.
• Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora for PostgreSQL.
• Strong SQL development for OLTP/analytics.
• English communication skills.
• Experience with AWS Lake Formation and data lake deployment.
• PostgreSQL or Oracle certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of production and non-production database environments.
• Formulates and maintains database policies, procedures, and standards, and monitors activity.
• Reviews database designs and system integrations and recommends enhancements.
• Develops, manages, and tests backup and recovery plans.
• Maintains database security and integrity controls; manages patching and upgrades.
• Optimizes PostgreSQL performance via tuning and indexing.
• Administers Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora for PostgreSQL; supports migrations with AWS DMS and Glue.
• Monitors performance, resources, availability, and health; takes corrective action.
• Collaborates with architecture, engineering, security, and other stakeholders.
