Job summary

ECIC is seeking a Senior Director/Director of Policy and Advocacy to advance policy change at state and federal levels. This remote role is based in Michigan with occasional statewide travel.

You will lead the policy agenda, coordinate a coalition of advocates, and build relationships with policymakers to promote early childhood funding and ECIC’s public policy resources. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, political science or related field.
• Seven years of related experience.
• Strong advocacy and coalition-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and advance ECIC’s annual policy agenda in collaboration with partners.
• Facilitate a coalition of early childhood advocates, child care providers and health practitioners, parent leaders, state government and community leaders; include meeting design and facilitation.
• Develop and manage strategy for strengthening relationships with elected officials and government agencies and increasing policy support.
• Create work plans and materials (talking points, summaries, factsheets, testimony, reports, letters) and coordinate dissemination across channels.
• Collaborate with national, state, regional and local partners to advance coalition policy priorities.
• Plan and implement events to support policy goals (legislative days, town halls, news conferences).
• Manage fund development needs: proposals, reports, budget, funder relations.
