Afford Anything is Paula Pant's personal finance podcast. We're seeking an editor who can do more than cut; shape the conversation for both video and audio across YouTube and podcasts.

You should think about storytelling, retention, and how each edit serves the episode. You'll edit two long-form interview episodes per week, trim filler, balance microphones, and add graphics where they genuinely improve the experience.

Qualifications

• A portfolio showing exceptional long-form editing; podcast or interview content preferred.
• Experience editing both video and audio.
• Ability to balance podcast audio and video editing.
• Strong editorial judgment and initiative.
• Exceptional English comprehension and ability to follow nuanced conversations.
• Understanding of long-form storytelling and audience retention.
• Experience using performance data to improve content is a plus.
• Strong eye for design and typography; motion graphics and sound design experience.
• Experience helping a podcast or YouTube channel improve over time.

Responsabilités

• Edit two long-form interview episodes per week; enhance clarity, pacing, storytelling and retention.
• Make cuts to remove filler, repetition and awkward pauses without harming the narrative.
• Identify tangents and nonessential sections for cuts and improvements.
• Explain major editorial decisions early on; increase ownership over time.
• Polish podcast audio and balance microphones for high-quality audio-first experience.
• Ensure video and audio work together for strong episodes across platforms.
• Review audience-retention data and apply insights to future edits.
• Add graphics, text, and motion where they genuinely enhance the viewing experience.
