Job summary

REAL New York is seeking a second engineer to run day-to-day platform operations, maintenance, bug fixes, monitoring, and scoped feature work. You will be trained by the builder of the system and work within a structured ramp and weekly cadences.

This is a long-term, remote role reporting to the Director of Innovation. You will collaborate with staff, document changes, and participate in API integrations with Zoho, PostgreSQL, and third-party services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python; Flask with Jinja templates and HTMX frontends.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience: schema design, joins on real-world data, query debugging.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs (REST, OAuth, webhooks).
• Willingness to work in Zoho Creator low-code platform and learn Deluge scripting.
• Strong written and spoken English (C1 or equivalent).
• At least 4 hours of daily overlap with 9am to 6pm New York time.
• Reliable remote setup: stable power and internet, with a backup plan.

Responsibilities

• Own routine maintenance and bug fixes across the platform, from a prioritized ticket queue.
• Monitor and maintain data sync layer (Zoho Creator to PostgreSQL every 5 minutes) and integrations with QuickBooks, Follow Up Boss, and Google Workspace.
• Build scoped features inside the existing architecture: Python services, dashboard views, workflow automations, Zoho customizations.
• Answer technical questions from staff and support training/helpdesk.
• Document touched components to centralize knowledge in the system.
