Job summary

Defense Unicorns seeks a senior Technical Lead / Platform Solution Architect to embed with a government team and unify mission objectives with platform architecture across Kubernetes/OpenShift, AI services, data platforms, and security tooling.

Role requires active TS/SCI clearance, on-site support in Springfield, VA, and the ability to communicate with senior leaders and engineers. Remote-USA arrangement noted with a focus on secure, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Local to the National Capital Region; onsite at government facility in Springfield, VA.
• Experience leading technical decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with multiple teams and vendors.
• Ability to translate mission objectives into pragmatic technical choices and clear recommendations.
• Proven ability to brief senior government leaders and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical architecture across platform ecosystem.
• Provide trusted technical SME to mission hero with advice, tradeoffs, and risk assessments.
• Create and maintain architectural diagrams and ADRs for government leadership.
• Lead cross-platform integration across Kubernetes/OpenShift, AI/ML services, data platforms, and security tooling.
• Identify dependencies, risks, bottlenecks, and debt early to protect schedules.
• Establish repeatable patterns for deployment, observability, identity, secrets, APIs, and data access.
• Collaborate with OEM teams to resolve cross-platform issues and align with overall architecture.
• Advise on practical adoption of AI, cloud-native tech, and sequencing across environments.
