National Jewish Health in Colorado is seeking a Medical Coder with 1+ year physician coding experience to ensure accurate inpatient and outpatient billing using CPT/ICD guidelines. This full-time, 100% remote role requires attention to documentation quality and compliance with AHA, CMS, and internal coding guidelines.

You will query providers, audit records, and support education to clinicians, contributing to proper reimbursement while maintaining professional standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Work Experience: At least 1 year physician coding or medical records experience.
• Special Training, Certification or Licensure: CPC, COC (CPC-H), CCA, CCS, CCS-P or RHIT are acceptable certifications.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and audits documentation for verification of type and level of professional services using CPT guidelines.
• Queries providers or staff when documentation is missing or unclear for coding purposes.
• Summarizes audit findings and assists supervisor in provider education on coding requirements.
• Reviews and assigns CPT codes for procedures performed on and off campus, with correct modifiers when needed.
