Job summary

RI International in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Peer Support Specialist I to provide recovery training and peer support within our Crisis - Cumberland Recovery Response Center. This pool, non-exempt role operates on a rotating shift 7:00am–7:30pm with two on/two off patterns, and offers an hourly wage of $17.00–$18.00.

The ideal candidate has Peer Employment Training certification, a high school diploma, and lived experience with mental health or substance use services.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools.
• Effective communication skills.
• Must be able to pass de‑escalation training, as defined by state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assist in identifying participant’s hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
• Teach recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
• Model hope, personal responsibility and self-advocacy to meet recovery goals.
• Assist in developing natural supports and community living.
• Cultivate connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose).
• Completes clinical documentation as required.
• Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources.
