Job summary

RI International in Peoria, AZ seeks a Peer Support Specialist I to provide recovery support and advocacy. You will help build a recovery environment and act as an advocate for individuals’ needs and rights.

The role requires completion of Peer Employment Training and a High School Diploma, with lived experience in mental health or substance use services. Travel may be part of the role and the schedule includes evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Peer Employment Training thus obtaining Certification as a Peer Support Specialist required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
• Must be able to pass de-escalation training as defined by state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Guest Care & Advocacy: Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes and dreams.
• Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
• Models hope, personal responsibility and self-advocacy to demonstrate recovery goals.
• Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
• Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life and environment to meaning and purpose.
• Cross Functional Collaboration: Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources.
