Job summary

University Health Partners of Hawai'i is seeking a part-time Peer Specialist to support clients in recovery through the Hoʻola UTelehealth program. The role requires Hawaii HCPS certification, strong peer-support skills, and the ability to work remotely with occasional travel.

The position offers a flexible schedule, with a minimum of 20 hours per week, typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, plus extended hours and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of direct service experience with SUD/behavioral health.
• HCPS certification required in Hawaii.
• WRAP facilitator preferred; must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• BLS CPR and First Aid preferred.
• CPI certification preferred.
• Commitment to consumer rights and community living.
• Effective written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with treatment team to promote a respectful, consumer-centered approach.
• Provide support within the Hoʻola UTelehealth program.
• Assist with recovery planning, WRAP, and referrals.
• Attend supervision with QMHP or MHP per accreditation standards.
• Develop coping skills and crisis plans with consumers.
• Facilitate peer support groups and address stigma.
• Assist Case Managers with recovery planning.
• Provide crisis outreach as needed.
• Mentor other Peer Specialists toward certification.
