Job summary

University Health Partners of Hawai'i is seeking a part-time Peer Specialist for the Hoʻola UTelehealth program. The role is remote with travel as required, and requires engagement with a treatment team to support recovery planning and client self-determination.

The position emphasizes peer support, crisis intervention, and group facilitation, with supervision by QMHP/MHP and commitment to HIPAA and PHI privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of direct service experience in substance use or mental health.
• Certification as a Peer Specialist in Hawaii (HCPS).
• WRAP Facilitator certification preferred; to be obtained if not held.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; insured vehicle if driving.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• CPI certification or crisis prevention training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with treatment team to support consumer self-determination in treatment planning.
• Provide support within the Hoʻola UTelehealth program.
• Assist with recovery plans, WRAP, and referrals.
• Attend QMHP/MHP supervision as required.
• Develop coping skills and crisis plans with consumers.
• Facilitate peer support groups and recovery dialogue.
• Assist with developing Individual Recovery Plans and crisis outreach.
