Job summary

Applied Technical Services, LLC is a leading provider of testing, inspection, and certification services. The Payroll Specialist role is fully remote, handling multi-state payrolls, regular and special payrolls, and compliance reporting for a national workforce.

Key duties include processing commissions, bonuses, PTO payouts, 401(k) contributions, and garnishments, with strong emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and system integrations. Proficiency in Paycom and HRIS is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum three years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred.
  • Experience with Paycom strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting payroll system implementations, conversions, upgrades, or process improvements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process and transmit multi-state payrolls on established schedules.
  • Process regular payrolls, quarterly commissions, quarterly bonuses, and PTO payouts.
  • Audit payroll information for accuracy and take corrective action as needed.
  • Calculate retroactive pay, partial pay, and other adjustments.
  • Review timesheets and payroll change information.
  • Prepare and process special payment files for commissions and bonuses.
  • Maintain payroll reports and HRIS records and related documentation.
  • Administer 401(k) contributions and related changes.
  • Manage garnishments and other court-ordered deductions.
  • Coordinate payroll communications with internal departments.
  • Support workers' compensation payroll reporting and compliance inquiries.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management, accounting, and audits.
