Job summary

Charter Impact is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll for our clients, train client staff, and ensure accurate processing. The role may operate remotely with occasional on-site trainings and meetings, and supports multi-state payroll.

Responsibilities include entering hires/changes, reconciling payroll-related accounts, and preparing retirement reporting. Ideal candidates have payroll experience, knowledge of payroll databases, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Three years of payroll processing experience preferred for external applicants.
  • Experience with quarterly payroll tax returns preferred.
  • Experience with third-party payroll databases (ADP, Paycor, Paycom, Paychex, UKG Ready Now).

Responsibilities

  • Train client staff on payroll processes and procedures.
  • Enter new hires and employee changes; review payroll reports for accuracy.
  • Assist with retirement reporting and payments for 403(b)/401(k) plans.
  • Reconcile payroll-related liability accounts before month-end closing.
  • Create and maintain payroll calendars and reminders.
  • Run post-payroll backup reports and ad hoc reports for clients.
