Job summary

Bavarian Nordic is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our North American Finance team in the Greater Raleigh/Durham area. You will manage payroll for US and Canadian employees, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with applicable laws while leveraging Dynamics 365 for postings and reconciliations.

As part of a six-person Finance team, you will support audits, assist with payroll questions, and help improve payroll systems and controls.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll experience, including automated payroll processing.
• Working knowledge of payroll accounting, financial postings, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems and advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data validation).
• Experience with TriNet, Empower 401(k), and Microsoft Dynamics D365 preferred.
• Strong communication and internal customer service skills to meet deadlines.
• Initiative and a continuous improvement mindset to scale payroll processes.
• Flexible communication style across functions and countries.

Responsibilities

• Process timely, accurate payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Ensure compliance with US and Canadian payroll laws and tax requirements.
• Prepare payroll reports and support audits of payroll records.
• Lead the annual 401(k) audit with the Director, North America Finance.
• Review payroll entries, deductions, leaves, and related changes.
• Assist employees with payroll questions and issues.
• Manage payroll accounting in Dynamics D365 and perform reconciliations.
• Review travel & expense reimbursements and ensure proper coding.
• Identify improvements to payroll administration and processes.
• Partner with leadership to calculate performance commissions.
