Job summary

Ensemble Performing Arts seeks a Payroll Supervisor to lead payroll operations remotely in the United States. You will oversee weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for hourly and salaried staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple pay schedules.

You will coach a payroll team, manage timekeeping, deductions, and adjustments, and collaborate with Finance on reporting and audits. A strong focus on data integrity and process improvements is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with core payroll functions, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll and wage-and-hour compliance.
• Ability to coach, develop, and lead a team.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Paylocity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop payroll coordinators, assign priorities and workloads for each pay cycle.
• Oversee end-to-end processing of weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for hourly and salaried staff.
• Review timekeeping data, bonuses, deductions, and retro adjustments before runs.
• Approve payroll registers, resolve discrepancies, and release payments including direct deposits and checks.
• Comply with federal/state/local wage-and-hour laws and tax reporting requirements.
• Reconcile payroll to GL and prepare payroll reports for leadership.
