Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a Patient Navigator to join a multi-disciplinary team remotely. The role centers on managing patients through the healthcare system, ensuring insurance coverage for treatments, and coordinating appointments across services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, or related field is required
• Associate’s degree in Healthcare Management or Public Health with 2+ years related experience acceptable
• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years related experience accepted

Responsibilities

• Establishes close relationships with patients and serves as primary contact
• Analyze market data to help identify payor population
• Verify insurance benefits and coverage for obesity treatment
• Educate providers on payor regulations to prevent denials
• Assist patients in navigating healthcare services and resources
• Coordinate appointments across service lines and with labs/tests
• Document patient information and obtain outside records as needed
• Engage family/community resources for emotional, social, and financial needs
• Collaborate with social services for financial management and resource coordination
