Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Patient Billing Customer Service Representative for a fully remote role in the United States. The position supports revenue cycle operations during and after an Epic system transition and serves as the main contact for patients, insurers, and vendors regarding billing inquiries.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of healthcare customer service experience focused on patient billing or revenue cycle operations.
• Minimum 3 years of Epic experience, specifically within the business office, patient accounting, or revenue cycle environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for patient billing and account-related inquiries.
• Respond to billing questions received via phone, email, voicemail, fax, and written correspondence.
• Handle a high volume of inbound calls while providing outstanding customer service.
• Research patient accounts and resolve first-level billing disputes.
• Escalate and route complex issues to appropriate departments when necessary.
• Enter, verify, and update insurance information accurately and efficiently.
• Assist patients with understanding bills, insurance coverage, deductibles, EOBs, Medicare, and payment responsibilities.
• Respond to insurance carrier, vendor, and third-party inquiries regarding account status and billing matters.
• Support workflow cleanup initiatives and Epic transition-related activities.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies when handling confidential patient and financial information.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely issue resolution and positive patient experiences.
• Meet productivity, quality, and response-time expectations while working independently.
