Job summary

Kettering Health is seeking a Patient Account Representative I to support patient access and revenue cycle operations. You will perform billing, posting payments, and account reconciliation to ensure accurate claims processing and timely collections.

Responsibilities include verifying insurance eligibility, resolving balance discrepancies, communicating with patients, and maintaining HIPAA compliance while supporting a collaborative care team within our remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years in medical billing, collections, or related area.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• HIPAA and patient confidentiality awareness.
• Experience with Epic or similar practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance carriers.
• Post patient and insurance payments, adjustments, and refunds.
• Reconcile patient accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services.
• Respond to patient inquiries about balances and billing options.
• Investigate and resolve denied claims and submit appeals.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient information.
• Document all account activity in the system.
• Collaborate with clinical/administrative staff on billing issues.
• Participate in ongoing training on billing regulations and compliance.
