Job summary

Concertina Team Pty Ltd is seeking a fully remote Patent Prosecution Paralegal to support US patent prosecution practice. The role focuses on mechanical prosecution tasks, docketing, document preparation, USPTO filings, patent drawing prep, and internal workflow support.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of US patent prosecution experience, hands-on AppColl work, and a track record of integrating AI into paralegal workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years in U.S. patent preparation and prosecution.
• Hands-on AppColl experience preferred; other IP docketing systems ok.
• Experience filing in USPTO Patent Center.
• Experience using AI tools to support paralegal workflows.
• Strong English writing and attention to detail.
• Remote work experience in IP law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file USPTO Patent Center documents.
• Prepare IDSs, forms, reference listings, and submission materials.
• Draft shell responses and standard prosecution documents.
• Prepare assignments, declarations, powers of attorney, and IDS forms.
• Open matters in AppColl and maintain data.
• Enter, update, and monitor docketing in AppColl.
• Track prosecution deadlines and assist with deadlines.
• Review USPTO correspondence for deadlines/actions.
• Organize electronic patent files.
• Support mechanical prosecution tasks and workflow management.
• Assist with PCT and foreign prosecution support.
• Follow client-specific patent prosecution procedures, filing requirements, and protocols.
• Follow KL IP procedures, templates, checklists, and quality-control processes.
• Use firm-approved AI tools to prepare first drafts, summarize correspondence, organize materials, and check documents.
• Verify all AI-assisted work for accuracy before attorney review.
• Identify opportunities to incorporate AI into paralegal workflows.
• Help test, refine, and document AI-assisted processes in firm procedures.
• Communicate clearly with attorneys and staff without unnecessary escalation.
• Manage multiple matters and deadlines accurately.
• Support USPTO Patent Center filings and formal document preparation.
• Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of client information.
