Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a Patent Docketing Specialist to join our IP team in a fully remote role. You will manage domestic and foreign docketing, monitor deadlines, and prepare routine and ad hoc reports for attorneys and clients.

Strong attention to detail, 5–7 years in patent docketing, and familiarity with USPTO rules and PCT procedures are required. This position supports a collaborative national practice.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of substantive patent docketing experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Extensive experience with U.S., foreign, and PCT patent docketing, including USPTO rules and international procedures.
• Ability to analyze patent correspondence, calculate deadlines, and escalate concerns appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Maintain docketing databases for domestic and foreign patent prosecution matters, including entering, monitoring, and clearing deadlines.
• Review and determine actions and due dates from communications regarding filing, renewal, and PTAB matters.
• Prepare monthly, weekly, and ad hoc docket reports for clients and attorneys.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by attorneys and Manager.
