Job summary

Nielsen is seeking a patent agent to join its Intellectual Property Team on a permanent basis and to work with engineers, data scientists, and other innovators to build a world-class patent portfolio that advances Nielsen’s business goals.

The patent agent will draft patents protecting technologies across audience measurement, media recognition, and AI-driven data fusion, with a fully remote/work-from-home arrangement and preference for Midwest or Eastern time zones.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of patent agent experience including drafting patent applications, drafting responses to office actions, and conducting examiner interviews.
• Degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
• Previous in-house patent preparation and prosecution experience valued.
• Experience with AI-drafting tools valued.

Responsibilities

• Draft provisional and non-provisional patent applications in-house.
• Collaborate with inventors to evaluate invention disclosures.
• Prosecute patent applications in-house under supervision, including interfacing with outside counsel when needed.
• Help develop patent strategies aligned with Nielsen product goals.
• Provide IP support to engineering and product teams, including audits of patent coverage.
