Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active Florida bar admission in good standing.
• 8+ years of defense litigation experience with substantial employment insurance defense focus.
• Experience independently handling employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Strong knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, including discrimination, wage and hour, leave, and wrongful termination claims.
• Experience working directly with insurance carriers and insured clients.
• First-chair or second-chair trial experience, administrative hearing representation, and mentoring junior legal staff are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead employment insurance defense matters from intake through resolution, including trial or appeal where needed.
• Handle pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.
• Defend employers against employment-related claims under federal and state law.
• Communicate regularly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and insured clients regarding case strategy, exposure, and status.
• Prepare case assessments, litigation strategy updates, and reporting aligned with carrier guidelines.
• Mentor associates and paralegals on litigation process, case strategy, and best practices.
