Job summary

Maximus is seeking a PART TIME Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our IRS client. This is a remote position and candidates must hold an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI).

The role requires updating and testing COBOL programs, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with IT and management to ensure compliant system changes. Strong COBOL, DB2, and CICS skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination
• Must possess an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI)
• At least four (4) years of experience with IBM COBOL programming language
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities
• Experience with CICS
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated success in client support
• Ability to interface with all levels of management
• Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision and guidance
• Excellent time management, scheduling and organizational skills
• Ability to work well independently or in a team setting
• Preferred qualifications and experience include IRS processing systems; SQL, JCL, Batch processing

Responsibilities

• Create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs
• Update documentation such as FSPs or PRPs and Visio diagrams as needed
• Track requirements and create/execute unit test cases
• Write, analyze, review and comment on documentation such as UWRs, IRM, ICD, COH
• Rewrite programs using workflow charts and diagrams and apply domain knowledge
• Revise, repair, or expand existing programs for efficiency and new requirements
• Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent
• Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain computer systems software
• Document program development and revisions with comments for clarity
• Prepare workflow charts and diagrams and convert to code
• Consult with and assist testers in development, SAT and FIT environments
