Job summary

RCR Consulting Group is hiring a Part-Time Payroll Tax Specialist to work remotely 15-20 hours per week. The role focuses on payroll tax compliance across multi-state jurisdictions, agency notices, and regulatory changes, serving as the go-to tax expert for clients.

The ideal candidate will own complex payroll tax issues from start to finish, with a Monday–Friday availability requirement. This position supports permanent part-time employment with potential for additional hours as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on payroll tax compliance experience.
• Experience registering companies for new-state SUI/SIT and local tax accounts.
• Strong knowledge of FICA, FUTA, SUTA, and state/local taxes.
• Experience handling payroll tax notices with IRS and state agencies.
• CPP or FPC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register companies for new state and local tax accounts as clients expand into new jurisdictions.
• Complete manual payroll tax filings and remittances when automation isn’t available.
• Prepare and file payroll tax returns (Forms 941, 940, state returns) and W-2s.
• Research and resolve complex payroll tax issues with IRS and state agencies.
• Help clients regain access to locked or inaccessible tax accounts.
• Monitor unemployment tax rates and SUTA changes for clients.
• Advise on withholding elections, multi-state taxation, and reporting requirements.
• Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and fix discrepancies before filing deadlines.
• Track tax legislation changes and update clients and processes.
• Build strong client relationships with high-quality service.
