Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a part-time HB Coding Analyst to ensure accurate outpatient coding and reimbursement. This remote role requires residency in IL, IN, IA, WI, or MO and amounts to 20 hours per week.

You will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, review records, and resolve outpatient claim issues while meeting productivity and quality standards. Certification and AHIMA or AAPC membership are preferred; annual benefits include tuition reimbursement and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in an acute healthcare setting.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC or CPC certification and AHIMA or AAPC membership.
• Preferred candidates have RHIA/RHIT with CCS, CCS-P, COC, or CPC and 4 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visits and encounters.
• Review medical records to code diagnoses, procedures and E/M services.
• Resolve outpatient claim edits (NCCI, NCD/LCD) while maintaining productivity and quality.
