Job summary

VCM Bookkeeping is expanding and seeks a part-time, fully remote bookkeeper servicing small businesses and high-net-worth individuals. You will manage monthly books, ensure CPA-ready financials, and maintain client confidentiality while adopting new technologies. The role emphasizes accuracy, process improvement, and clear client communication.

You will work independently with a focus on deadlines, supporting junior staff, and contributing to scalable workflows as the firm grows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience for small businesses.
• Substantial hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Deep understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and cash and accrual accounting.
• Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace, especially Excel and Sheets.
• Excellent written communication and client-facing skills.
• Remote role; must reside in California or Oregon.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients in QuickBooks Online.
• Categorize transactions and reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and other accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Draft professional client emails to request information and explain issues.
• Process payroll, manage accounts payable, and handle sales tax filings where needed.
• Create budgets, cash flow reports, and expense workbooks for clients.
• Lead one-time projects such as invoicing process improvements and historical cleanups.
• Review work by junior staff and provide feedback and coaching.
