Derrevere Stevens Black & Cozad, a prestigious law firm with offices in Florida, is currently seeking a talented Paralegal to join our Construction Defense Practice Group. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and promises a vibrant and enjoyable work environment. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic and proactively manages cases under attorney supervision from inception through trial.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research, and initial case assessments for attorneys.
- Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, proposed orders, and case management orders.
- Manage court dockets, deadlines, and ensure compliance.
- Review document redaction and discovery production.
- Assist in locating, retaining, and working with experts.
- Perform all e-filing throughout Florida jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with court procedures.
- Prepare med chronologies.
- Maintain and organize electronic files, associating all email correspondence and documents to proper cases.
- Assist in hearing, mediation, pre-deposition, deposition, and trial preparation.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Florida paralegal in a litigation office setting.
- Deep knowledge of motions, discovery, litigation documentation, court rules, and Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Experience in drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, notices, proposed orders, and discovery.
- Familiarity with Florida court e-filing and e-service.
- Proficiency in legal research.
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of managing deadlines and proactively advancing cases.
- Ability to follow up on tasks and procedures diligently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and be a team player.
- Experience with NetDocuments is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, assignments, and deadlines.
