Job description

Derrevere Stevens Black & Cozad, a prestigious law firm with offices in Florida, is currently seeking a talented Paralegal to join our Construction Defense Practice Group. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and promises a vibrant and enjoyable work environment. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic and can proactively manage a case under attorney supervision from inception through trial.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research, and initial case assessments for attorneys;
2. Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, proposed orders, and case management orders;
3. Manage court dockets, deadlines, and ensure compliance;
4. Review document redaction and discovery production;
5. Assist in locating, retaining, and working with experts;
6. Perform all e-filing throughout Florida jurisdictions in accordance with court procedures;
7. Prepare med chronologies;
8. Maintain and organize electronic files, including email correspondence and documents;
9. Assist in hearing, mediation, pre-deposition, deposition, and trial preparation.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Florida litigation paralegal;
2. Deep knowledge of motions, discovery, litigation documentation, court rules, and Florida Rules of Civil Procedure;
3. Experience in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, notices, and discovery;
4. Familiarity with Florida court e-filing and e-service;
5. Proficiency in legal research;
6. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe;
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and proactively advance cases;
8. Strong follow-up skills and procedural adherence;
9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and work well in a team;
10. Experience with NetDocuments is a plus;
11. Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
