Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission projects. The role may be based in Lake Mary/Orlando, FL, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, or Raleigh, NC.

The position requires 4–6 years of overhead transmission design experience, proficiency in PLS-CADD and AutoCAD, and a BS degree from an ABET-accredited school. Travel up to 10% and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• PE license is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analysis and design, and foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
