Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to join the Transmission Design team. You will design and create construction drawings for overhead transmission projects, contributing to 69kV–500kV line design and related analyses.

The role involves modeling lines in PLS-CADD, calculating conductor sags, and preparing plans and profiles. Requires ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering, 2–4 years of experience, and ability to travel up to 10% with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited school.
• 2-4 years of experience in overhead transmission design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office product applications, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD or similar.
• Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Must possess valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Prepare construction sketches for overhead network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analysis and design, perform foundation designs.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine right of way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and develop transmission line plan and profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
