Job summary

Henry Ford Health System is seeking an Outpatient Complex Coder for a remote, full-time role. You will code diagnostic and procedural data from patient records for reimbursement and research purposes.

Requirements include a high school diploma, RHIT/CPC/CCS certification or 5 years coding experience, and 2 years coding experience. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and coding systems is essential. Remote position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as RHIT/CPC/CCS required or five years coding experience.
• 1–2 years college or coursework in Accounting, Healthcare Administration or Medical Record Sciences preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology, pharmacology and coding systems.
• Minimum of two years coding experience required.
• Specialty coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and code diagnostic and/or procedural information from medical records for reimbursement/billing purposes.
• Abstract information from medical records for patient database used in research, care evaluation and decision making.
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and third party policies and accreditation guidelines.
