Job summary

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with coding systems and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Identifies diagnostic and operative procedures for coding by reviewing medical records.
• Assigns diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with guidelines using encoder software.
• Verifies documentation to support compliance and accurate billing.
• Reviews charges and determines appropriate facility E/M level when applicable.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and organizational policies.
