Lifepoint Health is seeking an Outpatient Coding Specialist to assign diagnosis and procedure codes across ED, ambulatory, and clinic encounters. You will ensure coding accuracy, compliance with CMS guidelines, and support hospital billing processes while working remotely for the Health Support Center.

The role emphasizes adherence to AHIMA standards, ongoing education, and collaboration with clinicians and billing staff to optimize coding accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• One year of outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital is required.
• Familiar with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA), CPC, CCS or RHIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS per CMS requirements.
• Maintain 95% accuracy on quality reviews and productivity standards.
• Verify/edit charges based on documentation or payer/billing and ensure compliance with AHIMA/AMA guidelines and LifePoint HSC policies.
• Follow coding workflows and submit physician queries when documentation is unclear.
• Participate in ongoing coding education and training as needed.
