Job summary

University Medical Center of Southern Nevada is seeking a facility outpatient coder to research and abstract medical information, ensuring accurate, complete, and billable codes for outpatient services, ED visits, and ambulatory surgery. The role requires CCS/COC/CCS-P and RHIA/RHIT credentials, with strong knowledge of CPT/ICD-10-CM/PCS and revenue cycle processes.

The candidate will work in Las Vegas, NV, with residency requirements in Clark County and potential remote work after probation.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of facility outpatient coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for researching codes and abstracting medical information to ensure accurate, complete, and billable codes for outpatient/Physician Clinical services.
• Codes hospital outpatient services, emergency department visits, and ambulatory surgery center services.
• Identifies and reports coding opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
• Monitors and reports trends and escalates discrepancies to management.
