Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a skilled outpatient coder to perform coding, abstracting and documentation support for professional and facility billing. You will resolve coding discrepancies, train junior staff, and contribute to auditing and compliance efforts in a remote-enabled setting.

Role requires AHIMA/AAPC certification and at least three years of coding experience, with strong knowledge of CMS and AMA guidelines.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC certification such as CPC/CCS or RHIA/RHIT verified.
• Three years of coding, clinical or billing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform final reconciliation on clinic/provider visits and resolve documentation issues.
• Abstract, code, and assign classifications for outpatient services.
• Serve as a resource to coding staff, business office, and providers on billing issues.
• Research high-volume accounts, complex claims, and compliance issues.
• Educate staff on regulatory guidelines and resolutions related to coding.
• Assist in auditing and trains levels I and II coders; may lead projects.
• Support backlog reduction to maintain quality and productivity.
