Job summary

University of Washington invites applications for the Outpatient Coding Education Analyst role within ERHI. You will audit, educate and train in outpatient coding guidelines (ICD, DRG, CPT, HCPCS) and serve as a subject-matter expert for documentation and coding inquiries.

The position is 100% remote with a 100% FTE schedule, Monday through Friday; requires a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences discipline or related field and at least 3 years of coding auditing and education experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Health Sciences discipline, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years increasingly responsible related experience, including coding auditing, analysis, education and training.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an organization resource and content expert for current documentation and coding guidelines.
• Perform coding audits, analyze results and create audit reports and provide education and training on the results of internal audits.
• Review DRG and CPT claim denials for commercial payers and maintain documentation of actions in accordance with laws and policies.
• Retains records per UW Medicine Records Retention Schedule and department policy.
• Evaluate billing/coding/documentation behavior and identify recommendations for improvement.
• Review, analyze and determine effectiveness of training and KPI-driven content.
• Develop and deliver role-specific training for ERHI Coding staff and implement monitoring, auditing and risk assessment activities.
• Manage or conduct audits per UW Medicine Audit Policy.
