Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will handle ED and ambulatory coding for Level III trauma cases, ensuring accurate diagnoses and procedures while maintaining high accuracy and productivity.

The role offers 15–20 hours per week with a flexible schedule, remote work setup, and ongoing education support. AHIMA/AAPC credentials are required with 3+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential required (RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CRC).
• 3+ years hospital coding experience in a medical setting.
• Proficiency with ED, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling coding.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Abstract data for hospital statistics and reporting requirements.
• Maintain coding accuracy and meet productivity standards.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities to staff.
