Job summary

Datavant is seeking an experienced and credentialed outpatient coder for a fully remote, part-time role up to 15-20 hours per week. The position emphasizes high attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and strong coding accuracy in ED E/M leveling, injections/infusions, ortho, urology, pain management, cardiology, and GI procedures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role.
• AHIMA or AAPC credentials as listed (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC).
• Experience with hospital coding (ED E/M leveling, injections/infusions, orthopedics, urology, pain management, cardiology, GI procedures).
• Ability to maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC assignment accuracy.
• Strong remote-work and time-management skills.
• Experience with recording continuing education credits.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation.
• Enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding concerns for follow-up and resolution.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards.
