Job summary

Datavant seeks an experienced ED/Ambulatory Surgical coder for Level III trauma facility on a part-time, fully remote basis (15-20 hours/week). You will review records, code diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate APC assignments while maintaining high accuracy and productivity.

Ideal candidates hold AHIMA or AAPC credentials and have 3+ years in hospital coding, with experience in ED E/M, injections/infusions, and related specialties.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• 3+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.
• Proficiency in ED E/M leveling, injections/infusions, ortho, urology, pain management, cardiology GI procedures and endos.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation and ensure discharge disposition is correct.
• Abstract coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities to relevant staff.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC accuracy and meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.
