Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks an Outpatient Coder to maintain high-quality ICD-10-CM and CPT coding for outpatient encounters. You will review clinical documentation, abstract data into CHRISTUS Health EMR systems, and collaborate with departments to resolve denials and clarify documentation.

Remote work is possible with minimal supervision. The role requires 2 years of outpatient coding experience in an acute care setting and adherence to AHIMA coding standards, reporting to the Regional Coding Manager

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Accredited Baccalaureate Health Informatics or Health Information Management or AHIMA approved Coding Certificate Program is preferred.
• Two years of outpatient coding in an acute care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments and procedures according to ICD-10-CM and CPT Guidelines.
• Abstract required information into CHRISTUS Health EMR systems.
• Work from coding queue and manage accounts to ensure accurate billing.
• Maintain an accuracy rate of 95% or better.
• Query providers for missing or unclear documentation with HIM resources.
