Job summary

Cable One is seeking an OSP Designer II to engineer broadband plant extensions and maintain our design standards. The role involves CAD/GIS drafting, reading walkouts, producing build packets, and coordinating with operations, construction, and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has a two-year degree or equivalent with several years of telecom design experience, strong GIS skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Remote work options are available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or university; 5+ years related experience preferred.
• Intermediate GIS knowledge (ESRI) and Schneider design software; Cable One standards.
• Understanding of cable design and HFC/fiber symbology.
• Familiarity with telecom outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Ability to solve complex problems and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing HFC plant extensions.
• Perform base drafting and maintain CAD/GIS drawings.
• Read and interpret walkout information accurately.
• Update as-builts as construction completes and releases area.
• Provide complete construction build packets with all design deliverables.
• Learn and adapt to new software and technologies.
• Create fiber splicing matrices and Lightpath circuits.
• Assess fiber availability and reinforcement requirements.
• Design major plant upgrades and redesigns as needed.
• Prioritize multiple projects with accuracy.
• Support company values and teamwork in daily tasks.
