Job summary

RegEd is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to provide operational and application database services across on-premise and cloud environments. You will own and resolve incidents, monitor health, backups, and security, and collaborate with multiple teams to drive efficiency and reliability.

The role emphasizes proactive improvements, include design and maintenance of database objects, and involvement in deployments and testing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of database administration, development, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or higher.
• Strong T-SQL skills including complex queries, stored procedures, transaction management, error handling, and dynamic SQL.
• Working knowledge of database backup, recovery, and HADR concepts.
• Familiarity with cloud database services in Azure such as Azure SQL MI, Azure SQL DB, or Azure SQL on VMs.
• Experience with database security administration such as user management, role assignment, and access controls.
• Ability to build and maintain SQL scripts, indexes, and complex queries for data analysis and operational use.
• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices for OLTP environments.
• Commitment to quality and accuracy.
• Familiarity with database monitoring and dashboard tools such as SSMS, Grafana, or similar platforms.
• Experience with SSIS or other ETL tooling.
• Experience with SSRS or other managed reporting platforms.
• Familiarity with other database platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field; related work experience can be substituted for education requirement

Responsibilities

• Own, track, and resolve database-related incidents and requests.
• Monitor and maintain database health through backups, maintenance jobs, and index management.
• Support performance and security requirements.
• Respond to database alerts and escalations.
• Collaborate with management and other teams on solutions to recurring problems.
• Continuously look for areas of improvement in projects, products, and processes.
• Design, create, and maintain database objects in on-premise and cloud environments.
• Refresh development and test environment databases regularly.
• Assist in building and maintaining database monitoring infrastructure.
• Support implementation of database changes and code deployments; work with Architecture on coding standards.
• Perform feasibility studies and effort estimates for new or revised database systems.
• Install, upgrade, and maintain database instances for development, testing, and production usage.
• General technical troubleshooting and consultation with QA, App Development, and Infrastructure teams.
• Work with multiple departments to implement and maintain database code and configurations.
