Innovation Alliance | Michigan is hiring its first Operations Director. This independent contractor role offers 25–30 hours per week with a fixed monthly fee of $8,000–$10,500, limited to Michigan residents.

The position is remote with regular in-person meetings and statewide travel, with Detroit area preferred, targeting a December 2026 start. You will build the operating base for a growing statewide alliance, coordinating Activity Councils, SAB, ELB, and Steering Committee to ensure consistent

Qualifications

• Michigan residency required.
• 7+ years of experience in operations, program or project management, nonprofit, or coalition administration; experience in economic development, innovation, or public-private partnerships preferred.
• Ability to travel within the state and meet with partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy while remaining accountable to a governing committee.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight to align Steering Committee and councils across governance bodies.
• Manage outreach, coordination, and notes for weekly meetings and monthly council discussions.
• Maintain documentation, reporting, and progress tracking across the alliance’s initiatives.
• Support grant and financial administration as part of governance operations.
