Job summary

Silicon Ranch is seeking an Operations Engineer/Sr. Operations Engineer to support a remote solar fleet.

You will serve as a plant generalist, bridging field execution, engineering analysis, and vendor engagement from PV array to interconnection, collaborating with Power Conversion and Substation Engineers to drive reliability and performance. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, data-driven problem statements, and turning field observations into concrete improvement actions across the fleet,

Qualifications

• Broad understanding of utility-scale PV plant systems and components.
• Experience with electrical testing methods and equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.
• Working knowledge of SCADA, networks, and monitoring systems.
• familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, IEC, NETA requirements.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues; root-cause analysis.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary engineering resource for the Asset Operations team, providing troubleshooting support and coordinating corrective action implementation across the plant.
• Drive resolution of key technical issues across the fleet, including defects, failures, and underperformance.
• Translate field observations and performance data into actionable solutions.
• Support O&M teams with structured troubleshooting and escalation.
• Own issues related to PV array, DC/AC balance of plant, including modules, trackers, inverters, substations.
• Collaborate with OEMs, EPCs, contractors, and service providers to supervise vendor performance.
• Lead engineering turnover of new projects from construction to operations, including commissioning review.
