Job summary

San José State University is seeking an Online Student Success Advisor to support enrollment, retention, and engagement for SJSU Online students. The role reports to the Managing Director of the SJSU Online Student Success Center and includes academic advising, progress monitoring, and proactive outreach in a remote in-state California setting.

The advisor will build relationships with online students, connect them with university resources, and participate in assessment and outreach initiatives

Qualifications

• Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
• A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic academic advising and support to online students.
• Implement a proactive advising approach to establish and maintain ongoing relationships with students.
• Assist students with goal setting, time management, study skills, and academic planning.
