Job summary

Actalent is seeking a 100% remote Specialty Clinical Review Pharmacist to perform detailed clinical reviews of utilization management requests for specialty meds, including oncology therapies. You will assess prior authorizations, formulary exceptions, and step therapy while ensuring compliance with policies and thorough documentation.

The role requires a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy with an active U.S. license and 5+ years in pharmacy settings.

Qualifications

• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy degree.
• Current pharmacist license in good standing in the United States.
• 5+ years in retail, managed care, or clinical pharmacy.
• Experience in specialty pharmacy or PBM environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical evaluations for coverage determinations and prior authorization requests.
• Assess formulary exceptions, step therapy, and quantity limit exceptions for ~500 specialty meds.
• Apply clinical criteria to determine PA approvals.
• Communicate with prescribers and health care staff to clarify information.
• Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure consistent coverage decisions.
• Escalate to denial team when necessary and document rationale.
